"Old King Cole was a merry old soul and a merry old soul was he; 

With King Cole and his fiddlers three."

I'd like to think us girls can compare.

I am not entirely sure when, but at some point when I would hear this poem in my head, I would hear, "Fiddlers She!" rather than, "fiddlers three."  

Similarly, I don't remember what inspired me, possibly the #metoo movement, the Fair Ple movement, or simply by the sheer annoyance that the music industry is still entirely male dominated, but I thought it might make a marketable concept if I could find other chick fiddlers, to play with me to show the world that women too can be masters  of an instrument. I was delighted at the response of so many women interested in this project and I can only hope that it continues for many years to come.  

Our first two annual concerts were, to my joy, hugely successful and came close to selling out.  We will be booking our next show featuring the amazing fiddler who hails from County Offally, Ireland, Maire Egan.  Maire toured on both River Dance, and Lord of the Dance, with the Michael Flatley.  She currently resides in Las Vegas playing her fiery Irish fiddle.
